Just because Halloween is over doesn't mean pumpkin goodies disappear. From now until the end of the year, bakeries and restaurants around San Diego are pumping out pumpkin treats with abandon to satisfy your holiday sweet tooth. If you're looking for donuts, French macarons, flan and more, you'll find it here. Read below for the best pumpkin treats to check out this season in San Diego.
Chef and owner Vivian Hernandez-Jackson transforms flan into a must-try seasonal treat available from now until the end of November. For her single-serving pumpkin flan ($6.50), pieces of housemade pumpkin seed brittle and mounds of pumpkin purée mixed with cream cheese top a round of pumpkin cake creating a smooth, decadent treat that’s also available in larger sizes come Thanksgiving. Also try her pumpkin-packed scone ($2) baked with lots of butter, almonds and cranberries.

This North Park donuttery takes the classic raised donut and doubles down on the goodness with puréed pumpkin incorporated into the dough and glaze for its pumpkin spice donut ($4). Fried until golden, this pastry gets its crunch from candied pepitas on top. Also look for a pumpkin cake donut with ginger cream cheese, housemade salted dulce de leche pumpkin macarons as well as a seasonal pumpkin latte to wash it all down.

You'll find this flaky handheld ($5) only on Thursdays at the La Jolla location. Take a bite into the crumbly crust to reveal the spiced puréed pumpkin tucked into the fresh-baked treat. A generous drizzle of glaze on top finishes this dessert. It's available until the end of the month.

After you've demolished a plate of barbecue, there's still reason to linger a while longer at this Mission Valley outpost: its seasonal pumpkin cheesecake ($6.95). Pumpkin and cream cheese makes for a decadent dessert that’s topped with caramel, whipped cream and crunchy pecans.

It’s pastries galore at this Downtown bakery. All season long, you’ll find the Big Poppa-Tart donut stuffed with a pumpkin toaster tart, pumpkin cream and pumpkin spice donuts. We recommend also trying the freshly baked pumpkin cinnamon rolls ($4) with puréed pumpkin baked right in and finished with a cream cheese glaze.
