On Tap: Farm Dinners, Beer Cruise, Clambake and Hot Dog Cook-Off

Liberté: Bastille Day Cocktails
Starting Monday, July 14, three French-inspired cocktails will go for $10 each at the lounge inside the Sofitel Hotel in Rittenhouse. There’s a St. Germain Spritz, a "Parisian" mojito made with Bacardi Gold and the Marie Antoinette with Grey Goose Le Citron. All are available at this price through the end of July.

Rex 1516: Sam Jacobson Guest Chef Burger
Justin Swain has been inviting colleagues into his South Street West kitchen to develop a new burger every Tuesday night, available with the house citywide (Buffalo Trace and can of Newbold) for just $15. On July 15, it’s the Southwark chef’s turn. Stay tuned to Swain’s Instagram (one of our must-follows) for news of ingredients.

R2L: Birchrun Hills Farm Dinner
The third in chef Daniel Stern’s Summer Harvest series takes place Tuesday, July 15, at his 37th floor dining room and features goods from our favorite local cheesemaker. Even dessert gets cheese’d up: it’s beignets stuffed with Birchrun Blue served with candied herbs and lemon curd. Seats to the 6:30 PM event are $75 for four courses; call 215-564-5337 for reservations.

Spirit of Philadelphia: Yards Beef and Beer Cruise
Spend an evening floating down the Delaware while enjoying beer made in a brewery you can see from the ship. Yards Saison is the featured sip on this sunset cruise, and your $56.90 ticket (here) also includes a BBQ buffet dinner with a make-your-own cheesesteak station. WMMR’s Jaxon and Jacky BamBam will be spinning tunes and boarding begins at 6:30 PM.

Will: Clambake Dinner
Chef Christopher Kearse is welcoming Sancho Pistola’s Adan Trinidad for a collaborative five-course seafood feast at his East Passyunk BYO on Wednesday, July 16. Look for summertime classics “with a modern twist” and know that your $50 also includes complimentary beverage pairings. Call 215-271-7683 for reservations.

Philadelphia Museum of Art: Local Craft Beer Tasting
From 6-88:30 PM, each Wednesday through the end of the month, Starr Events is hosting a brew session in the impressive Great Stair Hall. On July 16, the featured brewery is Flying Fish, and for $25 you’ll get to sample several types of beer along with hearty bites. Innovation in the Park
If you like both food trucks and flying drones, this event at Liberty Lands Park is for you. Starting at 3:30 PM on Thursday, July 17, Philly is hosting the first-ever "innovation" picnic, where local scientists and tech folks will give show-and-tell talks about the cool stuff their working on. Making music from plants, analyzing crime scenes, advertising with drones and robot lizards are among the topics, and you'll be able to buy snacks from Poi Dog, Kung Fu Hoagies and others while you listen.

Yardley Inn: Lagunitas Beer Dinner
Sous chef Josh Noel is getting a chance to show off his best work with a five-course pairing dinner on Thursday, July 17, at this Bucks County dining room. Seats at the 7 PM event run $55, and include dishes like fried gulf oysters and potato chip-crusted pork, plus five California brews. Call 215-493-3800 to reserve.

Victory Brewing: All American Beer Dinner
The annual summer feast at this Downingtown brewery takes place Thursday, July 17, at 6:30 PM. Tickets (here) run $65, and include five courses plus dessert, each paired with a different Victory beer.

Meadowbrook Farm: Angela Ranalli Dessert Pop-Up
The garden at this estate just northwest of the city limits will host Le Virtu’s pastry chef for one of her “Infused Pop-Up” sweets sessions on Saturday, July 19. The afternoon tea features cakes, shortbreads, crostata, truffles, biscotti and tea, and runs from noon-2 PM. Tickets are $40 per person, available by calling 215-397-1724.

Dog Days of Summer Hot Dog Cook-Off
Franks fans will definitely want to make their way to the Headhouse Shambles on Saturday, July 19, when 20 of Philly’s best sausage slingers will put their dogs to the test from 1-4 PM. A panel of judges will crown a winner for the Hot Diggity-sponsored event, and you can sample all the cooks with pay-as-you-go food and beer tickets (four for $10, 15 for $30). For an even better deal, pick up a $30 VIP ticket here — you’ll get in an hour early and score 20 tickets to use.

North Bowl: Tot Chef
You’ve heard of Top Chef and HopChef, here’s one focusing on potato fritters. Swing by the Northern Liberties bowling alley bar on Sunday, July 20, between 4-7 PM to sample amateur tot-toques’ creations for free. For anyone competing, there are cash prizes and giveaways, plus a chance for your dish to end up on the permanent menu.

Upstairs at Vetri: Ian Brendle Farm Dinner
The farmer from Green Meadow Farm will join chef Adam Leonti for a special meal at the intimate second-floor dining room of this Spruce Street Italian on Sunday, July 20. Each of many courses will be paired with a wine that highlights the Lancaster County produce. Tickets to the 6:30 PM event are $300 (request here).
