Sancho Pistola’s Taco Exchange
Scott Schroeder of American Sardine Bar is the chef Adan Trinidad’s victim (aka lucky guest chef) for this month’s special taco collaboration at the Fishtown Mexican on Monday, October 27. The duo will fill tortillas with beer-braised bacon, black bean purée, avocado, salsa verde, spicy radish pickles, jalapenos and fresh cilantro. Get them from 9 PM onward, two for $12.
Downtown Italian Cookbook Dinner at Osteria
Jeffery Michaud and Marc Vetri's North Broad restaurant is hosting a four-course feast with an NYC trio who've just come out with a new cookbook. For $100 per person, you can taste what chef Gabriel Thompson and the team behind dell'anima, L'Artusi, and L'Apicio have come up with, plus the opportunity to pair it with wines selected by beverage director Joe Campanale. The dinner begins at 6:30 PM, and a cookbook is included in the ticket price.
Dining & Dancing Under the Stars for Bainbridge Green
A group of smart, civic-minded residents wants to turn the strip that stretches along Bainbridge from Fifth to Third Streets into something more than just a gated median cars park beside, so they’re hosting a fundraiser, and restaurants along the way are getting involved. Support the cause and eat well on Tuesday, October 28, at either a fancy sit-down dinner from Ela and Southwark ($125; tickets here) or a $30 food truck and beer festival across the way.
Garces Foundation Gala
“Think local, give local” is the theme of the third annual installment of the yearly fundraiser for Jose Garces’ charitable foundation, and a few tickets still remain for the Wednesday, October 29, tasting event, which kicks off at 6:30 PM at the Kimmel Center. Dozens of the city’s best chefs are participating, so you can be assured your $200 ticket (here) will let you’ll eat well while you’re showing support.
Jerry’s Bar Farm Dinner
Make Wednesday, October 29, a “farm to bar” night with the harvest edition of this NoLibs’ tavern’s local food and beer pairing dinner. Four courses that include pigskin popcorn, marrow bone, honey-glazed pork belly and pumpkin ragu will be paired with brew from Neshaminy Creek, Flying Fish, Weyerbacher and Lancaster Brewing, all your for $65 (tickets here).
Movember Kick-Off at Frankford Hall
On Thursday, October 30, the Stephen Starr beer hall in Fishtown launches its annual facial-hair-driven campaign to raise money for testicular cancer awareness by offering free shaves from 6-9 PM. Lose the hair, then start to grow it back throughout the month while enjoying an all-night happy hour with $5 half-liters and food specials.
French Wine Fair at Liberté
A $20 ticket (here) will let you taste more than 20 vintages of French wine from 5-7 PM in the lounge at the Sofitel hotel on Thursday, October 30. Passed hors d’oevres will complement the sips and fall raffles and giveaways will round out the party, which benefits hunger nonprofit Philabundance just as they head into the trying holiday season.
Kick the Keg in Heels at Red Owl Tavern
To finish off a month of raising money for breast cancer awareness, the restaurant in the Hotel Monaco is hosting a wrap party from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 30. A $5 donation at the door gets you in for the first hour of free Saison de Rose beer, pink drinks and small bites, after which the sips will go for just $5 each through the end of the event.
