While the event doesn’t actually happen till April 23, we’re guessing tickets - available to the general public this Sunday - will go fast for a Kapnos dinner prepared by Mike Isabella and many of his chef and mixologist friends.
The five-course dinner, which will benefit the James Beard Foundation, costs $200 (all-inclusive) and starts with cocktails shaken and stirred by three of the city’s most reputable mixologists: Taha Ismail of G, Graffiato and Kapnos; Adam Bernbach of 2 Birds 1 Stone, Doi Moi, Estadio and Proof; and Chantal Tseng of Mockingbird Hill.
The cocktail reception will also include passed hors d’oeuvres created by celebrated DC chefs Victor Albisu of Del Campo and Taco Bamba; Scott Drewno of The Source by Wolfgang Puck; and Haidar Karoum of Doi Moi, Estadio and Proof.
As if that weren’t enough, the evening concludes with a five-course seated dinner crafted by Isabella and four of his East Coast chef buddies - Top Chef DC winner Kevin Sbraga of Sbraga and The Fat Ham in Philadelphia; Jamie Bissonnette of Coppa and Toro in Boston; Mike Solomonov of Zahav in Philly; and pastry chef Chris Ford of Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery in Los Angeles.
The final menu isn’t hammered out yet, but we learned that Sbraga plans to start the meal with raw mackerel with eggplant, peas and mint; Bissonnette will take the next course, serving grilled octopus with harissa, burnt onion and bone marrow; Solomonov plans to serve duck and foie gras kebabs with mulberry and pistachio; and Isabella rounds out the savories with spit-roasted lamb with to-be-determined garnishes.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7 PM, go on sale Sunday here. But there are only 100 tickets, and Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature card members gain access to a 72-hour pre-sale starting today - so get your tickets while the getting’s good.
