How Restaurants Around Florida Are Helping Hurricane Irma Victims

The industry has stepped up in a big way. Here's how you can too.

The devastation of Hurricane Irma impacted millions, and many restaurants and bars in the state of Florida (a state hit particularly hard) are offering specials and/or hosting fundraisers helping these victims. Here is a rolling list of restaurants across the Sunshine State offering relief for Floridians affected by Hurricane Irma’s destructive forces; check back for regular updates as they come in. For general donations and to help feed hungry victims of the storm, Feeding Florida has a fund for food banks in affected areas across the state.


Tap 42 and M.I.A. Beer Co. have partnered to develop a collaboration cocktail called “Adios Irma” that will be served at all Tap 42 locations from September 17th to the 24th. Proceeds will benefit Feeding South Florida and will go towards hurricane relief efforts.

MO Bar + Lounge at Mandarin Oriental will donate $6 to Feeding South Florida for each Florida Strong cocktail sold during the month of September.

The Rusty Pelican is holding “Pouring for a Cause”, a fundraiser that will feature 15 different cocktail stations by some of Miami’s top bartenders, on Thursday, September 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. Advance tickets cost $35 and $50 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the USBG National Charity Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund.

Wynwood Yard is hosting a community cleanup in Wynwood on Friday September 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will walk through the neighborhood cleaning up as they go, and making stops at various bars and restaurants for drinks and appetizers. Come with a canned good to trade it in for a cocktail at the bar. Proceeds raised will benefit Debris Free Oceans and Miami Waterkeeper while canned goods will go towards Hurricane Irma relief efforts.

Veza Sur Brewing Co. will be collecting donations of non-perishable items, toiletries, water, first aid kits, etc. at the brewery until September 30th. Customers who donate two items or more will receive a Chopp drink on the house. 

Tropical Chinese is giving T-shirts to hurricane victims. Anyone that brings in a new T-shirt can get choice of one free Dim Sum until September 23.

Wall is hosting dance parties for hurricane relief, Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17. The Miami Beach spot is donating 100% of door revenue to the Red Cross for people affected by both Harvey and Irma.

Mondrian South Beach is hosting a #TheBeachisBack sunset happy hour at the pool on Friday, September 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. 100% of the proceeds of two specialty cocktails, Southern Irishman and Sunshine State Relief, will be donated to Hurricane Irma relief efforts.

Sugar at East, Miami will donate $2 for every Irma Relief cocktail purchased to Feeding South Florida. The drink includes Plymouth Gin, St. Germain, muddled apple, aloe, pineapple and lime juice.

KINGS Dining and Entertainment Doral is raising Irma relief funds through the month of September through gaming sales, relief bracelets, a GoFundMe with a raffle and corporate event bookings.

Sugar Factory Ocean Drive is giving free meals to Irma victims until 4 p.m. on Friday, September 15. It includes a turkey and Swiss sandwich, bag of chips, fresh fruit and a drink.

Mojo Donuts & Fried Chicken is collecting items (diapers, feminine hygiene products, yoga mats, clothes, food, water and household items) to donate to Monroe County residents who evacuated to Florida International University.

My Ceviche is donating 50% of its proceeds to Feeding South Florida from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17.

Shuckers is donating 50% of all draft beer sales to the United Way of Miami-Dade Operation Helping Hands for Irma relief on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17.

Zuuk Mediterranean Kitchen is teaming up with Feeding South Florida to donate 50% of its proceeds from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17.

Federal Donuts in Wynwood is offering a free donut with purchase of a cup of coffee now through Sunday, September 17


TooJay’s is donating $1 from every strawberry lemonade and peach tea sold to Feeding Florida through the month of September.  Every $1 collected provides 11 meals through the Feeding Florida network.

The Restaurant People (YOLO, S3) is collecting water and nonperishable foods to send to the Florida Keys. They will be taking items at Hiring Office for Rooftop and TRP Taste (219 S Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday, September 17 and will evaluate how much more they can take next week.

Hoffman’s Chocolates will offer first responders and utility workers a free regular size cup or cone of ice cream with choice of toppings with a valid ID.

PlugIN Karaoke is offering one hour free to residents seeking relief from the heat. Mention promo code #ByeByeIrma at check-in until September 20 at 6 p.m. A two hour minimum is required to take advantage of the deal.

Riverside Market South is collecting supplies to bring down to the Keys through Sunday, September 17. In addition to non perishable food items, personal hygiene products and insect repellent, they're asking for donations of anything a landscaping company might need such as trash bags, chain saws, gas cans, shovels, pitchforks and tools.

Palm Beach

The chefs behind Avocado Grill, Cholo Soy Cocina and Buccan are hosting a special dinner on Tuesday, September 26th at Avocado Grill to raise money for the Florida Disaster Fund. Tickets cost $95, and $30 of each ticket will be donated to the charity.

CityPlace is collecting donations for United Way of Palm Beach County from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Saturday, September 16. All of the donated food will be distributed to food pantries and soup kitchens through the Palm Beach County Food Bank in partnership with United Way of Palm Beach County. All other items will be distributed to the appropriate United Way partner agencies. Most needed items are non perishable foods, water, diapers, toiletry items, first aid supplies, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, paper towels, fans and toilet paper. On Saturday evening, CityPlace will host a benefit concert from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. on the plaza.

Islamorada Beer Company has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for supplies.

Tampa Bay

New York New York Pizza is offering local police, firefighters and Tampa General Hospital employees two free slices of pizza with a drink through Sunday, September 17.

Statewide Chains

Ocean Prime in Tampa, Naples and Orlando, along with all Cameron Mitchell Restaurants across the country are donating all profits on Monday, September 18 to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund. Customers can get a $25 Cameron Mitchell Restaurants gift card for every $100 donation to the Red Cross.

Blaze Pizza is offering free pizza and a drink to all first responders and utility workers in Florida now through Sunday, September 17 with a valid ID.

Tijuana Flats is donating 10% of all proceeds to Irma relief efforts from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17. The Central Florida-based chain is working with Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and Florida’s Emergency Operations Centers to coordinate food deliveries to shelters and hard hit communities around the state. Staff at Tampa and South Florida locations are preparing meals for displaced Floridians and shelter volunteers.
