Skip Supper for Others is a new organization dedicated to reducing chronic hunger in Philadelphia - something more than half a million people in our city deal with daily. Headed by Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook of Zahav, Federal Donuts and Percy Street Barbecue, the nonprofit is holding its first SSFO Restaurant Week from December 9-16. You can get in on the giving back as easily as heading out for a meal.
The idea isn’t that you skip supper entirely, see. Instead, do go out to eat at a participating restaurant, and forego that extra appetizer or dessert. Then, when the bill comes, take the amount you would’ve spent on that plate and tag it onto the bill as a tax-deductible donation.
Broad Street Ministry is a partner of SSFO, and a portion of the proceeds collected with benefit the organization’s hospitality drive, which provides more than 50,000 meals to hungry Philadelphians each year, along with social services for folks who have nowhere else to go. Check the list of participating restaurants below, and start making your reservations to dine out for a good cause.
