The Tacombi group is opening their third NYC concept (fourth including the outpost at Gansevoort Market) in the West Village in September, a neighborhood in dire need of solid Mexican options. La Cornelia, opening on the corner of Bleecker and Cornelia Streets will serve as a corner taqueria inspired by street food of the Yucatan peninsula. Menu highlights from chef Jason Debriere (Peels, Five Points, Barbuto) include fried and puffed tortillas called salbutes, filled with beans and topped with pork or chicken; lechon (suckling pig) tacos; and Cochinita Pibil (roast pork wrapped in banana leaf). Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.
