Taste of the Nation is growing. This year’s gala event features more than 40 restaurants - including one that hasn’t even opened yet - plus 10 mixologists and even a handful of food trucks.
The annual fundraiser for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign is set for Sunday, April 27. It will overflow from the main Hotel Monaco ballroom and take over a second room downstairs, with tasting tables set up throughout.
Chef Townsend Wentz will be serving food from Townsend, the French-Italian restaurant he’s opening on East Passyunk this spring. (That space is coming along nicely, by the way, with a brand new bar and new front windows that open onto the street.)
Also on board for the evening of tasting are high-end gems like Serpico, Avance, Fond and Vernick, as well as favorites like South Philadelphia Tap Room, Brauhaus Schmitz and Shake Shack. Check out the still-growing participant list below.
Tickets run $95 for the 6-8 PM event, available here. Spring for the $145 VIP and get in an hour early, plus gain access to the after party with all the chefs.
The No Kid Hungry campaign benefits local organizations that work to feed children in need. In 2013 Taste of the Nation funds went to Philabundance, Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, The Food Trust, and the Pennsylvania Hunger Action Committee. This evening is a chance to eat well while helping other eat well.
