The Bromberg empire (Blue Ribbon et al) has expanded to the Upper West Side. Beginning today, uptowners can dig into the duo's brand of comfort food at The Ribbon, a 200-seat restaurant that they're billing as a neighborhood hangout. An open lounge area of booths and communal seating is anchored by a 18-seat bar, leading into a dining room that peeks into the kitchen. From their seats, diners can watch an eclectic mix of plates being prepared — the menu includes raw bar specialties, housemade pastas and rotisserie-cooked meats, including two types of prime rib (one beef and one pork). Blue Ribbon's famed fried chicken wings (pictured at top) will make an appearance, too, but only as a supper special on Sunday and Monday evenings. The drinks list will focus on whiskeys and bourbons (98 in all), along with wines (100 by the bottle, six on tap) and craft beers and ciders. They're also getting creative with cocktails, separating them into categories like shakens and sours and cocktails with bubbles.
