There's a reason Los Angeles Food & Wine is one of the hottest summer events in town — and it's not because it takes plane in sweltering August. It's because the event celebrates both the Los Angeles culinary scene while bringing in top chefs from around the country. It's where celebrity meets celebrity chef, and we all get to benefit with a slew of walk-around tastings, special lunches, panel discussions and more. Tickets for some of the biggest events for the over-the-top affair are on sale now for Chase Sapphire card members through Wednesday, June 18; they go on sale to the regular public on Thursday, June 19.

If you're like us, you'll want to scoop up tickets for the Power Lunches that pair visiting and local chefs at some of the best restaurants in town. They almost always sell out first because it's rather limited seating, and this year's lineup will go fast, especially the tag-teams with Michael Hung and SF's Dominique Crenn at Faith & Flower, and friends Jonathan Waxman and Nancy Silverton at Osteria Mozza. Other sure blockbusters include the Thursday night kick-off event, The Ultimate Bites of LA, and Friday night's Morimoto-hosted Asian Night Market. The grand tastings on Saturday and Sunday are equally good, especially with DJs and live music (last year it was Questlove, which alone was worth the price tag). The after parties are generally worth going to, usually held at the Watermarke Tower where even more food and drink are served. It's just a constant flow of a lot of a lot, but a very fitting wind down to summer.

While most of the big tasting events take place on Grand Avenue in front of the Disney Concert Hall, there are others scattered around L.A., Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Tickets range from $50 to $350, with full weekend packages at approximately $1,000. Splurge on the VIP tickets if you want early access to everything. Get the lowdown here.
