Forbes just called our own Tony's Pizza Napoletana "The Best Pizzeria in America" this week, so the timing seems fitting for World Champion pizza maker Tony Gemignani to announce he's opening Slice House by Tony Gemignani at AT&T Park today. This easily becomes one of the best things to bite into at the ballpark while watching a Giants' game.
Akin to his Tony's Coal-Fired Pizza and Slice House in North Beach, the stadium spot houses two electric Cuppone brick ovens from Italy, double stacked and able to cook four 20-inch pizzas simultaneously. Slice House will sell beer and Tony's New York pizza by the slice — no Neapolitan, Detroit, New Jersey, Sicilian or Chicago-style pizzas at this point. They'll kick off with basic cheese or pepperoni pizzas and eventually will add that habit-inducing Chicago Italian beef sandwich and strombolis to the ballpark menu. We've come a long way from flabby hot dogs and soggy fries. AT&T Park, View Level, Section 314, 24 Willie Mays Plaza
