Toro Opens NYC Location Today

Congratulations to star chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonette, who today open the NYC location of Toro: their South End, Boston-born tapas hit (seen here) that has remained packed nightly since opening in 2005. The new 100-seat spot in Chelsea, housed in a former Nabisco factory, is the first New York restaurant from the chefs and will continue its tapas-centric approach, though with offerings that sound even more innovative than those found at its home base in Boston - think spoonfuls of of caviar with sea urchin and quail egg; goat's-milk yogurt mousse with licorice caramel and heirloom apples; and lardo with pickled pumpkin, fried garlic and fleur de sel. Cheers to the sibling city restaurant, though we're already wondering if there's room for another family member: maybe a spin-off of Oringer and Bissonette's other South End collaboration, Coppa
