Saturday. If you haven't visited star chef Michael Schlow's Tico since executive chef Leo Asaro took the reins in March, here's a (very) good excuse. On Saturday, July 26 from 1-4 PM the Back Bay restaurant will host Pura Vida ("The Good Life"), a Latin street food fair-inspired fete on its patio. On the menu: sausages with spicy mustard; empanadas; quesadillas with pork, manchego and jalapeno; and a build-your-own "Bloody Maria" bar that features a ghost chili-infused tequila, for those who like their Scoville Scale set to "scorching." Plus there will be plenty of Cazadores margaritas from "roving Tequila Girls." The cost: $35. All-you-can-eat empanadas: priceless.
Sunday. A 100th birthday is a big deal. So on Sunday, July 27, Tryst Restaurant is celebrating the centennial of Arlington-based Tower Root Beer with a special dinner. At 6 PM you'll be able to dig in to a special Root Beer-Inspired Dinner from chef Paul Turano, a three-course salute that includes pork belly bun with Tower glaze, root beer-fried chicken with grits, and a cream pie with root beer sponge and a sassafras glaze. Dinner is $34, with cocktail pairings available for an additional $14. Call ahead to reserve: 781-641-2227.
Sunday. There's never a bad time to soak up the sun at The Sinclair (pictured), which happens to have one of the area's 10 Hottest Rooftop Scenes. But Sunday might be an especially good one. Because starting at 3 PM, chef Matt Cunningham will throw an Americana-rama BBQ. Dive into down home fixin's like jarred spicy pickled veggies, butter confit chicken wings, brioche maple sugar doughnut holes, and a "BBQ plate" that includes slow cooked brisket, cheddar cornbread, and five-spice pork ribs and grilled corn on the cob. Plus: country music (naturally) and sips from Deep Eddy vodka. Buy your tickets ($50) in advance by calling 617-547-5200.
