What to Drink This Weekend: Spiked Hot Cocoa 3 Ways

December 6, 2013

It's going to be freezing, so this weekend calls for a glass of spiked hot chocolate. Three Logan Square restaurants are enhancing the winter beverage with their choice of liquor. Lula Café, the home of the piping-hot mug pictured above, serves its Fernet hot chocolate with a housemade marshmallow, while Table, Donkey and Stick channels the après-ski scene with Chartreuse hot chocolate made with 60.5% cocoa fair trade chocolate and finished with torched Chartreuse-infused marshmallows. Finally, Parson’s Chicken & Fish gives its hot chocolate a smoky kick with mescal and garnishes the drink with whipped cream. Any one of these boozy beverages is worth venturing out into the cold to acquire.
