What to Order at Quality Meats, Opening Today in SoBe

The NYC steakhouse debuts with outlandish sides and giant cuts.

NYC-based steakhouse Quality Meats will open its second outpost in Miami Beach this Friday on 15th and Collins in the former Bancroft Hotel space. The restaurant's new digs were designed by NY-based firm AvroKO, who designs all the restaurants owned by the Fourth Wall Group (founded by father-son duo Alan and Michael Stillman). We stopped by during SOBEWFF to try out the new meatery, helmed by chef Craig Koketsu. For those who haven't visited the NYC original, the QM concept is inspired by old-school butcher shops, a theme made apparent by the interior decor (the custom meat-hook chandelier would most likely tip you off). The hotel’s original check-in desk now serves as a butcher counter that purveys cured foods while the former reception desk is now the service bar. A large wraparound patio offers romantic dimly lit environs for up to 70 patrons, while the interior seats 120.

The menu is divided up classically into apps, veggies, meats, entrees and sides. While you can't go wrong with just about any cut of steak here, try the bone-in sirloin (pictured), the filet mignon, or the double tomahawk rib steak. The sides are also a QM strong suit with options ranging from corn crème brûlée​ to crispy confit potatoes to signatures like broccoli and Cheetos. For veggie starters, go with the green goddess salad and the tomato and stracciatella.
