Where to Drink This Weekend: Charlie was a sinner

The Spot: Charlie was a sinner. (Write it in lowercase with a period at the end.)

The Gist: Nicole Marquis of HipCityVeg has just opened the doors at her vegan bar in Midtown Village, right by Vintage on 13th Street. Menu is from Michael Santoro of The Mildred.

Drink This: As might be expected, fruits and vegetables play a large role on the drink list, created by barman Pete Venuto, and all cocktails are $12. The Pablo Picasso melds Leblon cachaça with blueberry wine and orange spiced tea, and Le Fleur du Mal sees white port carrying a mix of citrus kombucha, strawberries and kiwi. Check out the full menu below.

The Scene: Lots of antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, drapes and tufted banquette seating fill the narrow, umbral space. Expect a crowd of vegan HipCityVeg acolytes, but - thanks to its prime location - plenty of other buzz-seeking drinkers, too.

Know Before You Go: The restaurant will open at 8 AM as a breakfast and lunch cafe, then transition to a sexy cocktail bar at night, per The Insider. For evening bites, Santoro has a selection of $8 toasts with vegan toppings in the form of hot dogs and crab cakes, plus chickpea fries, Korean fried tofu and more. Full list is below.
