The Spot: The Pastry War
The Gist: Owned by business partners Bobby Heugel and Alba Huerta, and recently named one of Esquire's Best Bars in America 2014, this mezcaleria offers an array of Mexican agave spirits, beer and cocktails.
Drink This: We're partial to the Margarita de la Casa ($8) available frozen or shaken. This refreshing margarita is made with both key and Persian limes, perfectly balanced by sweet agave nectar. For just $1 more, add seasonal flavors like habanero and serrano, sweet strawberry and tangy balsamic, or guava marmalade.
Eat This: The list of snacks includes queso and chips ($8.99) and Mexican salted peanuts ($3.99). For something heavier, our go-to fare is the tasty tamales ($5).
The Scene: The relaxed atmosphere and festive Mexican decor at this downtown establishment sets the perfect stage to throw back a little salt, tequila and lime.
