We're already in love with Whole Heart Provisions.
Tonight, the vegan-friendly eatery opens in the Allston space (487 Cambridge St.) that was formerly occupied by the veggie-driven restaurant Root. But Whole Heart Provisions is from a totally different team: co-owners James DiSabatino, the man behind neighboring Roxy's Gourmet Grilled Cheese, and chef Rebecca Arnold, formerly of Sarma and Alden & Harlow. And it has a totally different approach, utilizing a fast-casual concept based around build-your-own bowls that start with bases of grains (like quinoa) or greens (like kale) before piling on fresh and funky toppings for crunch and flavor. Carrot and radish kimchi? Sichuan dukkah? Gochujang dressing? They're all there, and then some.
Check out below the full menu of inventive offerings, which also includes some pre-arranged bowls — like the Seeta, laden with pickled cauliflower, cured tomato and coconut curry — and street-food snacks like that tasty-sounding falafel dog. Woof.
