3 Atlanta Restaurants Host Upscale Super Bowl XLIX Events This Weekend
With Super Bowl XLIX coming up this weekend, plenty of Atlanta restaurants are offering catering, trying to get their food in front of big screens across the city. But let's say you want to go out and do something really interesting this Sunday. Where to turn for upscale Super Bowl-themed events? These local spots are on your team and will all offer something unique while screening the game.
This multi-level Kirkwood bar and restaurant is partnering up with new ATL brewery Second Self Beer for a five-course meal inspired by football. Dinner starts half an hour before the 6:30 PM kickoff (and should wrap by halftime). Expect items like a pork rind amuse paired with a beer cocktail, a "buffalo"-flavored chicken terrine, beef chili served in a cornbread bowl and much more — all paired with various Second Self beers including a small-batch beer inspired by red velvet cake ($40; 6 PM; 678-974-8380).
Chef Art Smith's bourbon-heavy bar (it's called Bourbon Bar, after all) in the base of the Buckhead InterContinental serves up a one-night-only menu of Super Bowl-themed snack menu. Expect pulled pork sliders with kimchi, truffle salt and Parmesan fries or chili-chicken quesadillas with a spiced crème fraiche. Gridiron-inspired cocktails run throughout the game (5-10 PM; 404-946-9070).
Head into this Sandy Spring restaurant's Barrel Bar, which will sport a 100" HD projection of the match. Football-inspired specials will include potato skins laden with smoked chicken, housemade bratwurst cooked in beer and a special chili made with short rib. It's Sunday, too, so brunch it up with a Bloody Mary bar, bottomless mimosas and drinks inspired by both the Seahawks and the Patriots (5-10 PM; 404-497-9700).
