Variety's the spice of life! But sometimes restaurants overload their menus, making it tough to knows what's a must-try dish, and when to take a pass. That's why Zagat Atlanta spotlights can't-miss hot plates worth seeking out. Know of an excellent menu item in town? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter via @ZagatAtlanta.

The Dish: Sloppy Jai at Chai Pani

The Price: $9.49

Tasting Notes: "The most awesome Sloppy Joe ever," says the menu at this hip, casual Decatur spot specializing in food inspired by Indian street cuisine. Traditionalists will know the sandwich by its Indian name kheema pav, but you don't need to know the lingo to dig this flavorful sandwich of ground lamb simmered with ginger, tomatoes and spices. Served on a soft maska pav (a bun brushed with ghee clarified butter, then toasted), this dish — not nearly as sloppy as its American cousin Joe — is garnished with cilantro, onions and a mint-and-cilantro chutney. A sweet yogurt sauce cuts the spice.

Good to Know: Chai Pani's chef de cuisine Daniel Peach, a Decatur native, received one of Zagat inaugural Atlanta 30 Under 30 awards last year.
