$10 Lunch: Hillside Farmacy

Entering Hillside Farmacy is like walking into a fantasyland of pharmacies of yore, with a hipster twist. The stylized interior by designer Mickie Spencer boasts adorable wallpaper, vintage-style tiles on the floors and dark wood all around, with every detail carefully curated, down to the old-timey cash register on the bar.

Chef Sonya Cote’s food makes quite the impression, too. The locally focused New American fare concentrates on sandwiches and salads, with plenty of hearty options under the $10 mark. Try the massive grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, gruyere, cheddar and Pullman for a meager $6, the mac 'n' cheese with mornay, fresh herbs and bread crumb for $7 or go for the kale Caesar salad for a mere $8. Or, do breakfast for lunch until 1 PM, with plates like bangers and eggs with sausage, scrambled farm eggs, caramelized onions and tomato relish on a fresh baguette for $10.

Say hello to Austin 30 Under 30 honoree Thorne Russell, Cote’s son, too, and be sure to admire his dapper outfit.
