3 Extreme Burgers in Austin

By Megan Giller  |  April 10, 2015

It’s always a good time for an over-the-top burger, especially to kick off a spring weekend. Pair one of these homegrown whoppers with a craft beer for maximum effect.

Poutine Burger at Hopdoddy
The popular spot tops an all-natural beef patty with house-cut, crispy fries that are smothered in gravy and topped with cheddar and caramelized onions, a fried egg, tomato, lettuce, steak sauce and sassy sauce. Oh Canada! It’s available through April 19.

JapJam Burger at Peached Tortilla
This burger was a cult classic at the truck, and now that chef Eric Silverstein has opened his brick-and-mortar spot, it’s a menu fixture. A six-ounce beef patty comes topped with pepper jack cheese, a fried egg, tempura onion strings, Chinese BBQ sauce and tomato jam. We dare you to eat the whole thing. (Photo by Bonnie Berry)

Ron Burgundy at Gourdough’s Public House
Check out the ridiculously huge donut burgers at the Downtown location of this Austin fixture. We like the Anchorman-themed offering, with a big beef patty, bacon, a fried egg, American cheese, cilantro, guacamole, sliced tomato and mayo.
