Mother's Day has snuck up on many of us; the big day is somehow this Sunday. But if you haven't made reservations yet, don't worry. Restaurants around town still have reservations for special meals and offerings to make moms happy. Here are our picks.
Hit up the complimentary champagne bar before tucking into a solid brunch menu of treats like crab cakes eggs Benedict, oysters on the half shell, a smoked striploin carving station and more. It may be rainy out today, but Sunday will be bright and sunny. Take advantage of the spring weather at this Driftwood spot, where you can enjoy Italian food al fresco. Plus mom will get a bag of fresh Italian cookies (gluten-free are also available) to round out her special day (13308 FM 150 West, Driftwood).
Head to the Hilton for a four-course prix-fixe brunch with deliciousness like brioche French toast, roasted corn chowder, marinated rib-eye and more, plus a complimentary glass of champagne and $3 mimosas. Give your mom a unique present at this coffee and cheese pairing class from Houndstooth Coffee and Antonelli’s. The tasting menu features four specialty cheeses and coffees and is guided by the experts. Buy tickets here ($40, 6 PM, 4200 N. Lamar Blvd.).
The luxurious new East Austin restaurant will treat mom right, with a prix-fixe menu, a pear Bellini and oat scones. Options include a choice of starters like crab salad and house-made ricotta, entrees such as duck confit hash and oak-grilled chicken, and desserts like lemon cream or brioche donuts. Children’s gourmet options include baked eggs with soft polenta, white cheddar mac 'n' cheese and more. At chef Sonya Cote’s restaurant, Mother’s Day comes with champagne and a disco maypole dance-off to Donna Summer. The family-style brunch includes dishes like beignets and honey, cornmeal-fried oysters, red beets and red onions with chevre gelato, lamb chops, frittatas and more, plus a parting gift for moms ($100, appetizer buffet 1-2:30 PM, brunch 1:30-2:30, maypole dance-off at 3 PM, 755 Springdale Rd.).
The buffet brunch at this Round Rock spot includes dishes like rosemary-roasted pork, green-chile-cheddar scrambled eggs, house-made kolaches and more.
