Austin Chefs Pop Up at International Chef’s Congress

Several Austin chefs will be featured at the three-day culinary symposium in New York City. Uchi and Uchiko’s executive pastry chef, Philip Speer, will host a pastry pop-up called “A Savory Taste of Asia: Dessert Flavors Reconsidered,” with dishes like a peanut-butter-soaked cake with orange, peanut and sweet yellow curry. And the Noble Sandwich Company’s John Bates and Brandon Martinez are hosting a pop-up trailer serving venison blood sausage with yellow-eyed beans, pickled melon and hoya santa (which you might recognize from their pop-up dinner happening tonight). Last the pastry chef at Uchi Houston, Sharon Gofreed, will be competing in the pastry competition. Go Texas!
