Austin Weekend Planner: The Festival EditionBy Megan Giller | September 27, 2013 By Megan Giller | September 27, 2013
This weekend there are so many events that we’re doing not one but two planner posts for you. This one is all about the festivals, all of which are happening on Saturday. So pick your poison, or be greedy like us and plan to go to all three. Stay tuned for a second post today about the rest of the happenings this weekend.
Texas Craft Brewers Festival
With over 130 craft beers on tap, food from Lucky J’s and other places, and live music, this festival promises to give you quite the buzz. Participants include 512 Brewing, New Republic, Austin Beerworks, Rogness, Infamous and many, many more. Gates open at 11:30 AM for VIP and 2 PM for GA. Let the drinks begin! (2-8 PM, Fiesta Gardens, $20 for GA, $10 for designated driver)
Austin gets its very own Oktoberfest, put on by the Saengerrunde downtown. There will be beer, bowling and live music (White Ghost Shivers!) aplenty as well as tastes from local places like Easy Tiger, Louie Mueller Barbecue, Frank, La Barbecue, School House Pub and more. Proceeds benefit Foodways Texas (1-6 PM, 1607 San Jacinto Blvd., $35).
Gettin’ Sauced Festival
Texans love barbecue so much that we even have a festival dedicated solely to barbecue sauce. Head to Hops and Grain Brewing to taste up to 50 sauces from around the country as well as barbecue from places like Louie Mueller, Black’s, Freedmen’s and more. Plus, live music! (3-6 PM, 507 Calles St., BBQ-sampling wristband $8, VIP wristband $25)
