Best Thing We Ate: Omnivore Pizza at Via 313

Oh, Via 313, how we love thee. Let us count the ways. Your thick, square Detroit-style crust distinguishes you from the plethora of New York-style pies around town. You use natural-casing pepperoni and always serve your slices with a good attitude.

Even though Texas-based beer bar Craft Pride is ultra fun on its own, we make special trips to sit on the back patio and scarf your pizza along with a few pints of beer (last time it was Mr. Sparkle from Austin Beerworks, with glitter in the actual liquid). We also make special trips to less-stellar dive bar Violet Crown Social Club to hit up your original trailer for a slice late night.

Usually we’re wooed by your Cadillac, with gorgonzola, fig preserves, shaved prosciutto, shaved Parmesan and balsamic glaze. But the other day it was all about the Omnivore, with cremini mushrooms, sweet onions, green pepper and pepperoni and pinched hot Italian sausage, with your slightly spicy marinara sauce ladled on top of the melty cheese. In fact, now that we think about it, it’s time for another pie.
