Sway Promotes Alexis Chong to Executive Chef

Austin is still spinning from the mysterious departure of both executive chef Rene Ortiz and pastry chef Laura Sawicki from Sway and La Condesa, with little to no information available about why the two left so suddenly. But at Saturday’s Eat.Drink.Empower event at Max’s Wine Dive, it was announced that former chef de cuisine of Sway, Alexis Chong, has been promoted to be the executive chef.

Chong declined to talk about her promotion with us on Saturday. Since the South First restaurant was conceptualized around Ortiz’s ideas about Thai food, we are very curious to see if there will be any menu changes or other changes.
