Thanksgiving Camp Teaches Kids About Farming

By Megan Giller | November 25, 2013 By Megan Giller  |  November 25, 2013

This Wednesday Green Gate Farm will teach your kids all about living the agricultural life. The organic farm is hosting a one-day Kid Farmer for a Day Camp, where little ones will assist farmers with seeding plants in the greenhouse, feeding animals, setting up a farm stand and tending to newborn pigs, ponies, sheep, goats and chickens. But it’s not all work. They’ll also get to play in the hayloft and explore the farm. Plus, the day ends with a Thanksgiving feast and a brainstorming session about the education center. Sounds like the perfect way to give thanks to the farmers and ranchers who provide us with local produce and meat before the big Turkey Day ($85, 8310 Canoga Ave., 8 AM-3 PM).
