It’s Austin Beer Week, and that means plenty of events around town for you to get your craft beer on (check the schedule for the full lineup). There are also plenty of wine and hard liquor events too, as well as Halloween parties, making this the week to drink up.
Beer and Movie Dinner at Alamo Drafthouse
As part of Austin Beer Week, the new Drafthouse Lakeline will be serving a special four-course meal and local beer pairings to go along with their screening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Dishes include house-cured salmon and grapefruit salad paired with Independence White Rabbit Wit and Samoan-style pork meatballs with Rogness Porter Ost with Coconut ($50, 14028 N. U.S. Hwy 183, Bldg F, 7 PM).
Wine in Heels at Say laV
Get a preview of one of this year’s most anticipated restaurant openings when forthcoming laV’s trailer, Say laV, hosts its pop-up dinner. The theme is “fall bounty,” which translates to passed hors d’oeuvres and small bites that showcase local produce from chef Allison Jenkins as well as wine pairings from sommelier Vilma Mazaite ($50, 1501 E. Sixth St., 5-7 PM).
Urbina Wine Dinner at Mettle
The newly opened East Austin bistro is hosting a seven-course Spanish menu with wine pairings. Reserve online or call the restaurant directly ($85, 507 Calles St., 512-236-1022, reception at 7 PM, dinner at 7:30 PM).
Glenfiddich Revealed at Freedmen’s
Taste Glenfiddich’s entire line of single-malt scotches and eat barbecue to your heart’s desire at West Campus' swanky barbecue and cocktail hangout. RSVP to Petra.firstname.lastname@example.org (2402 San Gabriel St., 7-9 PM).
Beer Tapping and Food Pairing at Contigo
Austin Beerworks has made a very special fresh hops beer, Heavy Machinery Wet-Hopped IPA, and they’re tapping a keg of it as part of Austin Beer Week. Add Contigo’s Dewberry Hills fried chicken drumsticks for $1 and you have yourself an unbeatable happy hour (2027 Anchor Ln., 5 PM).
