Don't worry, you can leave your smock at home. We don't think any actual edibles will be flying during this "Food Fight" series. But impressive culinary skills? Those will be going a mile a minute. Starting Tuesday, September 24, expect talented toques around Boston to battle it out for charity in a series of face-offs that benefit Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit campaigning to end childhood hunger. Each "fight" will be themed, and next week's kick-off (going down from 7-9 PM at Lincoln Tavern and Restaurant in Southie) will pit recent Food & Wine Best New Chef winner Matt Gaudet of West Bridge against Hungry Mother chef Barry Maiden in a throwdown over Asian street food. On the horizon: chefs from Tremont 647 and BELLY Wine Bar battle over New England fare on November 12; Myers + Chang and Lincoln Tavern tackle Southern comfort food on January 14; and Coppa will take on a still-TBD restaurant on March 11 over a theme dubbed, "Spice Trade Route: Africa to Europe." Grab $20 tickets here for the September showdown, which score you a tasting dish, two drink tickets, pizza from Lincoln Tavern, Q&A with the chefs and a chance to vote for the victor; winners from each "Food Fight" event will go on to be featured in Share Our Strength's ultimate foodie fund-raiser, Taste of the Nation Boston, on April 29, 2014.
