Boston Food Events This Week: Beer & Pizza, Canines & Cocktails
Monday. Yes, the weekend's over. No, you don't need to end your pizza-and-beer-binge. (You know who you are.) Tickets are still available for Craftacular, going down tonight from 7-9 PM at Bella Luna. It's your chance to graze on a gourmet pizza buffet while sampling beers from seven local craft breweries: Harpoon Brewery, Mayflower Brewing Company, Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project, Slumbrew, Tap Brewing Company, Downeast Cider House, and of course, Sam Adams. (That last brewery happens to be Bella Luna's neighbor.) A DJ will spin groovy lounge music, and tickets for the suds-and-slice spectacular are $20 here.
Tuesday. In April, Eastern Standard wine director Colleen Hein went on a tour of France's Champagne region. Tomorrow night from 7-10 PM, guests will taste the fruits of her labor (hint: they're grape related) during a Champagne Dinner that is part of the Kenmore Square restaurant's "Standard Education" series. On Tuesday, June 24, the $150, five-course dinner will pair Hein's hand-picked discoveries with complementary plates: expect sparkling selections from Damery, Ambonnay, and Chavot vineyards alongside local fluke with smoked salmon roe, grilled sea scallop with sweet corn and bacon, and roasted rabbit saddle with porcini, to name a few. Tickets are here.
Wednesday. Just in time for summer, TAMO Bistro & Bar unveiled a renovated interior and new menu: part of a more extensive redo to the Seaport Boston Hotel. If you haven't yet had a chance to check it out, June 25 brings a good reason to do so - and to bring your dog with you. It's the kickoff for a weekly summer series: Canines & Cocktails. Every Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 PM, diners will bring invited to take their pooch to TAMO's terrace and mingle with other dog owners over cocktails from the outdoor bar. For every guest who attends this week's kick-off, TAMO will donate $10 to the Animal Rescue League. And because this is a restaurant event, after all, your four-legged friend will dine on organic, homemade dog treats by the Seaport's executive chef. (Special doggie bags with take-home treats will be provided too.) And of course, there's still that new "people menu" to explore which now features funky fare like the “pie in a jar” of beef, Guinness and horseradish, and the “Dirty Martini,” a plate of blue cheese-stuffed fried olives.
Thursday. Basketball fans: Will you be on pins and needles this week as the NBA draft results are announced? A drink might help. So head to Capiz Lounge at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel for Draft Night. The free party will include live draft updates with the Beats & Eats teams from Boston's CLNS Radio, including a Skype feed connecting guests live to the Celtics locker room HQ. You'll find a sports trivia contest, testing your knowledge of all Hub-based team histories. And most importantly, you'll find thematic food and drinks specials: like the Celtic Pride cocktail of Angry Orchard cider, Jameson and apple liqueur, bone marrow popcorn, street tacos with fillings like Oaxacan swordfish, and chili tamarind-glazed chicken wings.
