On Sunday, October 6, six fixtures in Boston's top talent pool will have a chance to flaunt their flambés at the James Beard House. Dubbed "The Boston Tea Party," the event brings together pastry chefs Jared Bacheller (L'Espalier), Jaime Davis (No. 9 Park), Monica Glass (Clio, pictured) and Giselle Miller (Deuxave), plus Jeffrey Fournier (chef/owner of 51 Lincoln) and Brian Rae (chef de cuisine at Rialto). The half-dozen hot shots will show NYC how Boston does tea time, which means a spread of decadent confections like cranberry clafoutis with miso cream and white chocolate; candy cap mushroom cream with chicory shortbread; chamomile-fig financiers; and pear gâteaux with smoked walnuts and poached pears. More savory sandwiches will also be served, including one gem that features Rialto's house bacon with apple, walnut, gorgonzola and chive crespelle. Taking on NYC can induce a little anxiety (just ask any Red Sox fan), but we know the ridiculous talent at this Tea Party will rep us right. Otherwise, into the Harbor with you, guys.
