Chef Eddie Huang Hangs in Boston

By Scott Kearnan | October 7, 2013 By Scott Kearnan  |  October 7, 2013

Here's some food for thought: could Boston get a BaoHaus? Ok, we're getting ahead of ourselves. But we can't help but speculate after celebrity chef Eddie Huang, who is rumored to appear on the new Top Chef season and will host MTV's upcoming cooking competition Snackdown, visited Boston over the weekend. Huang was spotted checking in at Revere Hotel, and took in a Friday night Red Sox game with a fellow hotel guest: John Travolta, in town filming the heist flick The Forger. (Huang tweeted this photo with the actor.) Also joining Huang's game-day crew was Big Night Entertainment Group kingpin Ed Kane, who certainly knows a thing or two about running high-profile restaurants; BNEG's Empire Restaurant and Lounge, GEM and Red Lantern (which just opened a branch at Foxwoods Casino) have been some of Boston's biggest openings in recent years, and Huang appeared at Empire earlier this year as part of a high-profile chef series. Here's hoping that Huang and Kane were talking a little business during baseball. Either way, the chef and Fresh Off the Boat author certainly spent some time checking out local restaurants, and seemed to be in a seafood mood, tweeting about his squid ink pasta from The Daily Catch and fisherman's platter from Greg's Restaurant in Watertown.
