Naturally, it took a brilliant mind to come up with something this delicious. Today Clover Food Lab, the all-natural "fast food" concept that we recently named one of 9 Local Chains We Love, announced the introduction of its first combo meal. Starting on Friday, February 14, just $9 will get you a glass of locally-made Berkshire Brewing Company's Raspberry Strong Ale (boasting a no-nonsense 9% ABV, FYI) and a brand new Hungarian Beet Sandwich: twice-fried beets from Winter Moon Farm in Hadley, caraway cream cheese spread, a paprika-cabbage-dill slaw and candied walnuts. The sandwich was the winning pick from six finalists determined by a sandwich design contest launched last year with nearby MIT. (The winner: A Hungarian woman who grew up eating pickled canned beets.) After some "food lab" tinkering the result rolls out on Valentine's Day, the perfect fit for red beets, magenta beer, and a lovely little couple like this.
