Food Events This Week: Pig Roasts & Cocktail Competitions

Monday, April 21. It's Marathon Monday, and many have the day off. So there's no reason to not check out some of the Marathon-related specials we've rounded up, including a patio-opening party at Fairsted Kitchen and a special Strega dish supporting the One Fund. 

Tuesday, April 22. Save on airfare will still savoring at "Taste of Toscana" starting at 6 PM. The special wine dinner at Bistro du Midi will feature a five-course meal of Provencal fare, paired with sips from famed Italian winemaker Marchesi Antinori. Seats are $125 per person, and you'll want to call ahead to reserve: 617-426-7878.

Wednesday, April 23. The Marathon runners aren't the only competitors worth celebrating this week - at least, not if you're a cocktail lover. On Wednesday the Cyclorama at the South End's Boston Center for the Arts will host "Movers & Shakers," the fifth annual cocktail competition where guests vote on the best craft concoction. Bartenders from restaurants like Aquitaine, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Kirkland Tap & Trotter, Mooo and many more will pour out creative drinks (with food pairings) from 7-9 PM. Tickets are $35 here

Thursday, April 24. The weather is warming up, and patios across the city are reopening for the spring season. Which means you can expect a spate of restaurant-hosted barbecues and animal roasts in the weeks ahead, starting with Thursday's "Pig Roast Patio Party" at The Salty Pig. Tickets are just $15 here for the festivities, which includes all-you-can eat pig parts and a cold beer. The spit turns from 4:30-6:30 PM.
