Stephanie Cmar Moves On, Jason Santos Moves Up
Jason Santos. Get ready to see a lot more of Jason Santos. The Hell's Kitchen runner-up has managed to keep a pretty high profile in Boston (as chef at Blue Inc., Abby Lane and Back Bay Harry's) and beyond, appearing not infrequently on The Talk, the daytime show hosted in part by future in-law Sara Gilbert. (Santos' cousin, prolific songwriter Linda Perry, is Gilbert's fiancé.) He most recently appeared last week, whipping up pork chops and apple sauce with Sharon Osbourne (pictured) and Co. for a Brady Bunch reunion celebrating actress Florence Henderson's 80th birthday. But moving forward, you might be seeing Santos on cookbook covers and sauté pans. Because apparently the chef has inked a deal with C3 Entertainment, a licensing and merchandising firm, which is making motions to poise Santos as a bigger name in the celebrity chef world. "We are thrilled to add Jason to C3’s family of celebrity and iconic brands," said Ani Khachoian, C3’s executive VP of licensing and consumer products, in a statement about the deal. "We expect many licensing opportunities for Jason with initial offerings of cookbooks and cookware." Khachoian adds that since Santos is "already an established TV personality," the company is "already cooking up new TV projects" for the chef.
Stephanie Cmar. Time for a donut shop? Two-time Top Chef alum Stephanie Cmar has left her post as sous chef at No. 9 Park, according to her most recent social media updates. Cmar, recently named one of our Boston 30 Under 30 honorees, recently told Zagat that she didn't see herself staying in the Barbara Lynch-level sphere of fine dining indefinitely. (In fact, she said, running a sub or donut shop was more her line.) We're still waiting to hear back on what her new moves will be, but we're eager to see where the smart, talented and good-humored toque lands next. Coincidentally, Cmar is the second 30 Under 30 wunderkind to move on from her role in as many weeks. We recently reported that Bondir Concord's Rachel Miller is off to (as-yet-TBD) greener pastures too.
