Donuts. Boston 30 Under 30 honoree Stephanie Cmar (pictured) bid adieu to her post as sous chef at Barbara Lynch's No. 9 Park last week. But you can get a taste of her next project this Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23 at Lynch's The Butcher Shop, where Cmar will launch a pop-up series: Stacked Donuts. Expect citrus-glazed and Bavarian-filled donuts for $3 each, and the pop-up will recur at The Butcher Shop for the subsequent two weekends. Cmar is eyeing opportunities to extend the pop-up elsewhere afterward, but we're really curious if this is all to test the waters for a brick-and-mortar location. After all, Cmar told us last month that she eventually saw herself moving away from fine dining and toward a more casual, counter-style approach. (In semi-related news, Cmar isn't the only high profile chef to be moving on from the Barbara Lynch Gruppo; head here for our chat with Top Chef winner and Menton chef de cuisine Kristen Kish, who announced she'll leave next month.)
Chocolate. Valentine's Day may be over, but there's no reason to stop indulging in chocolate-covered sweets any time soon. So on Saturday, February 22, head over to the Boston Harbor Hotel from 1-4 PM. You can go gliding around on the hotel's ice skating rink, then head to the upstairs rotunda for the Above & Below Chocolate Party, where Meritage chef Daniel Bruce and pastry chef Shawn Dresser will lay a splay of sweet and savory treats: think warm chocolate chunk croissant pudding, milk chocolate peanut butter torte with candied bacon, and whiskey chocolate cake with "Cracker Jack Daniels." Tickets are $38 ($25 for kids) and there will also be a cash bar with chocolate-inspired beverages like the Peppermint Patty (Kahlua, White Creme de Menthe, Mozart Chocolate Liquor, hot chocolate and coffee).
Tequila. Question: What day is "National Margarita Day"? Answer: Saturday, February 22. (Also acceptable: "Every day.") To celebrate, Somerville Mexican The Painted Burro will host a margarita contest during brunch hours of 11 AM-5 PM. The process will help Painted Burro pick one of two spring-evoking 'ritas to add to their new menu: either a Strawberry Basil Margarita or a Chamomile Lavender Margarita. Guests can purchase a flight of both drinks for $13, cast their ballot, and receive in return a card to redeem for a free iced coffee horchata; one guest will also win a comped brunch for two. So drink up. It's research.
