Friday. If you were hoping to get to the American Craft Beer Fest tomorrow - too bad. Saturday's sessions are sold out, but you can still grab last-minute tickets to tonight's kick-off (6-9:30 PM) at the Seaport World Trade Center. Your $47 ticket (available here) scores you entry to tastings from over 640 craft beers representing more than 140 brewers. Plus: a compostable tasting cup! Get drunk and go green - but hurry up, before tonight's session is sold out too.
Saturday. On May 31, you may suddenly feel a gravitational pull to the South End "speakeasy" Wink & Nod. Apparently Saturday is Ardberg Day, a global celebration of the renowned Islay Scotch distiller, and Wink & Nod will temporarily crack open a bottle of Ardberg Galileo, a limited-edition 12-year old single malt that was recently ranked the world's best. The "Galileo" name references its inception as part of a collaboration with a Texas-based space research company, which conducted experiments on how zero-gravity affects the maturation of chemical compounds in whiskey. Starting at 5 PM, Wink & Nod will serve it up two ways ($11 each): as a pour, or in a cocktail. And at midnight, the bottle goes back in the vault until next year. So drink up, while you can.
Sunday. On Sunday, June 1, Tavern Road chef-owner Louis DiBiccari (pictured) hosts the next installment of CREATE, a now-annual celebration of food and art. (DiBiccari's uncle was a master sculptor whose Tavern Road studio inspired the name of his nephew's restaurant in Fort Point, a neighborhood known for its own storied arts community.) Here's the concept: chefs and bartenders are paired up with visual artists to create a dish and drink inspired by the art - which can include live performance art. If that sounds a little lofty, here's the no-brainer version: See pretty things, eat yummy stuff. Among the participating chefs are Alex Crab from Asta, Scott Jones from Menton, Jason Cheek from Merrill & Co., and pastry wiz Monica Glass from Clio. Bartenders include 30 Under 30 honoree Sabrina Kershaw of Franklin Cafe, Tyler Wang of Audubon, Emma Hollander of Trina's Starlite Lounge, and Palmer Matthews of Drink. Tickets ($35) are here, and the art party happens from 2-6 PM at the Fairmont Battery Wharf.
