Where to Brunch This Weekend: Pauli's

North End sandwich spot Pauli's is not interested in restraint. Last year the place delivered us two over-the-top menu items - a grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with lobster and a 24-ounce lobster roll - that seemed to be vying for the crown of most gluttonous nosh in town. (The latter item even sparked fleeting social media flap when Neptune Oyster chef Michael Serpa criticized the creation.) But if Pauli's is guilty of gimmickry, there are clearly no plans to stop now: and frankly, we'd be lying if we said we weren't intrigued by its latest invention, the "McPauli's" breakfast sandwich. It's a mound of two eggs, home fries and Vermont cheddar cheese heaped between two bacon-pancakes and drizzled with maple syrup. It's $9.95. Cheap hangover brunch: engaged.
