Another seafood spot opens in the city: Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, with locations from Florida to Texas and Arizona, opens its first northern location in The Shops at North Bridge. The restaurant and lounge offers a wide array of globally-sourced seafood as well as specialty-aged, USDA certified steaks. THe first dinner service kicks off at 5 PM (312-595-1114).
It’s time to take a mind-over-matter approach to this spring situation. Get into the springtime spirit with the Spring Awakening Cooking Demonstration at Mercadito. The class, taught by chef Patricio Sandoval, will feature dishes such as milk-braised carnitas with orange-avocado serrano salsa, herb slaw, epazote, cilantro, mint and key lime. Tickets cost $55 and the class begins at 6:30 PM (312-329-9555).
Although Chicago Gourmet is six months away, it’s never too early to get excited (and drink cocktails). Beyond Gourmet is a new dinner series that provides opportunities to interact with chefs, mixologists and sommeliers prior to the food festival. Up first is a cocktail dinner at The Bristol, featuring cocktails from three mixologists paired with food by chef Chris Pandel. Seats cost $100 and dinner starts at 6:30 PM (773-862-5555).
312 Chicago has 16 reasons to celebrate this month. This Loop Italian restaurant celebrates its 16th birthday with a complimentary Italian Grand Tour-themed tasting from 5-7 PM. The lobby of Hotel Allegro will transform into an Italian cornucopia with samples of wine and bites from various regions of Italy prepared by chef Luca Corazzina (877-405-4563).
