Foodie Find: Crafthouse CocktailsBy Sarah Freeman | April 16, 2014 By Sarah Freeman | April 16, 2014
From their kitchen to your home, Foodie Finds seeks out prepared goods from Chicago’s most talented artisans and chefs so that the party doesn't have to stop once you leave the restaurant.
Everyone should have a well-stocked home bar filled with the essentials, from spirits to shakers. But those who prefer to leave the mixing to the pros can have a home bartender in a bottle. Crafthouse Cocktails is the line of bottled cocktails from mixologist Charles Joly of The Aviary and industry veteran Matt Lindner. Together they released the gin-based Southside and the vodka-based Moscow Mule last summer, and recently they added a paloma with tequila to the lineup - plus a bit of exciting news.
The company joined forces with local CH Distillery to incorporate the local spirit into the Southside and the Mule. Joly worked with master distiller Tremaine Atkinson to develop a London dry-style gin with a strong backbone that brought out the citric and floral notes of the Southside. The vodka is unique in that its smooth, clean finish allows the ginger beer and lime juice of the Mule to shine.
Crafthouse Cocktails are sold at Binny’s and other local specialty retailers.
