The Latte Art World Championship is a thing, we've heard, and Hiroshi Sawada, owner of Streamer Coffee Company, was Asia’s first winner. He now makes his stateside debut with a new coffee shop in the West Loop. Sawada (both the name of the artist and the shop) is a 15-seat coffee shop located in the former warehouse occupied by Green Street Smoked Meats and High Five Ramen.

It's an Instagrammer’s paradise, complete with a hand-painted espresso machines and a pig pong table. Green Street, a busy BBQ joint, sits to one side, while windows facing Green Street occupy the other. Guests can enjoy a latte from one of the baristas — trained by Sawada himself — including sweet green tea lattes, cappuccinos, cortados and boozy steamers. The shop also served Doughnut Vault donuts decked out in camouflage icing to match the grunge-chic decor.

Sawada Coffee is open weekdays from 7 AM-3 PM and on weekends from 8 AM-4 PM.
