South Side institution Uncle John’s BBQ closed last week, leaving a rib-shaped hole in Chicago's barbecue scene. Owner and pitmaster Mack Sevier, who operated the original 69th Street store, has been dealing with health issues and is ready to step away from the smokers. LTH Forum broke the news, which was later confirmed on the restaurant’s Facebook page. The second location in Richton Park (8249 Cottage Grove) will stay open.
