The Florentine Shakes Up Its Drink Menu With Rock-Inspired CocktailsBy Sarah Freeman | July 31, 2013 By Sarah Freeman | July 31, 2013
Whether or not you snagged a ticket to the three-day music festival rolling though town this weekend, there's no denying that Chicago will runneth over with musicians. Celebrate Lollapalooza weekend by drinking like a rock star, or maybe just a rock star-inspired cocktail at The Florentine.
For the electro-pop fan, there's the Ellie Goulding-inspired drink “Anything Could Happen." The vodka cocktail is made with a potent combination of absinthe, rose water, triple sec and fresh sour. Indie rockers can ironically sip on the Vampire Weekend’s “Dirty Vampire” with gin, Gaeta Olive Dirty, Calabrian chili and bacon. Or keep it classy with The Lumineers “Ho Hey,” which is simply Daisy Cutter beer served in a paper bag.
Fans of the classics can drink The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” with Herradura tequila, grapefruit juice, egg white, simple syrup, yellow Chartreuse and bitters. Or simply go straight for the hard stuff with the "Mumford and Scotch" flight.
If you're saving your energy for dancing, opt for one of the virgin drink specials such as the Cherry Lime Inch Nails with morello cherry jam, fresh lime and soda, or the Killersoda with fresh lemon and smoked honey. There's also a Postal Service-inspired "Delivered" made with blood orange puree, fresh lemon and lemon-lime soda.
The “Liquid Courage” and “Music Is My Cocktail” menus are available all weekend with drinks ranging in price from $7-$25.
