Weekend Planner: Cheap Beer and Expensive BourbonBy Sarah Freeman | November 14, 2013 By Sarah Freeman | November 14, 2013
Help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines during a fundraiser at Sunda. Filipino-American community leaders will discuss the latest developments and the aftermath of the typhoon. From 11:30 AM to 3 PM, donations will be accepted for the Philippine Red Cross, and the restaurant will also be making a donation (312-644-0500).
This weekend is bound to get sloppy when Paddy Long's hosts the third annual cheap beer and Malört night. The co-stars of the evening are a batch of barrel-aged Malört that has been aging in a white oak barrel since May, as well as Mama Malört herself, Jeppson’s owner Pat Gabelick. A dozen canned beers will be on special along with shots of the bitter booze (773-290-6988).
It’s a joint birthday party for Bangers & Lace and Old Forester. The bar turns three and the birthday bourbon has been released annually since 2002 to celebrate the birth of the distillery’s founder. The party will celebrate all things beer and booze with complimentary passed appetizers and a bourbon-infused cookie cake. The evening kicks off at 5 PM (773-252-6499).
