Weekend Planner: Hurricane Flights and Oscar NightBy Sarah Freeman | February 27, 2014 By Sarah Freeman | February 27, 2014
It’s time to throw in the towel for Restaurant Week 2014 (which officially concluded three weeks ago). The last of the extended restaurants week menus ends tonight with Tavernita ceasing its $33 dinner deal. The meal includes a choice of two bites, a small plate, large plate and dessert for the table along with one kegged cocktail per person (312-274-1111).
Mardi Gras is a five-day affair at Nouveau Tavern that starts on Friday and concludes on Fat Tuesday. Drink in the festivities at the Bourbon Street lounge, located in the back bar, with a flight of Hurricanes. The flight consists of three special Hurricanes, each representing a city where Mardi Gras is celebrated: Brazil, New Orleans and Chicago (312-915-4100).
Celebrate Oscar night at one of the glitziest restaurants in town. Nellcôte rolls out the orange carpet for a glamorous evening with viewing screens throughout the restaurant and a full-fledged paparazzi-style-step-and-snap, as well as Oscar-inspired cocktails. Food specials include $10 pizza and champagne will be flowing for $5 per glass. Drink specials feature The Wolf of Wall Street, made with bourbon, sweet vermouth, Campari and orange bitters, as well as Gravity, made with vodka, sorel liqueur, lime and all-spice syrup (312-432-0500).
