Best Thing We Ate: Crab Dip at Neighborhood Services

By Farah Fleurima | December 26, 2013 By Farah Fleurima  |  December 26, 2013

Chef-restaurateur Nick Badovinus’ New American restaurant Neighborhood Services has packed in the crowds since opening in 2008, a great feat when dealing with fickle Dallas diners. The wait on a recent Thursday night visit kept us buzzing around the bar – not a problem with well-made Moscow Mules as well as signatures like the fruity Beauty School Drop Out. When we did sit, our first dish – the Jonah Crab Dip appetizer – made the wait so worth it. Warm, creamy and flecked with peppers for a pleasantly piquant kick, the breadcrumb-topped dip went smashingly well with crunchy tortilla chips, and – bonus! – an addictive and mildly sweet roasted tomato salsa that came with it. This plate prepped our palates nicely for the chef-crafted meal to come, but we’d be content popping in and noshing on Jonah Crab Dip at the bar with a beer – also a great way to sidestep any wait.
