Weekend Planner: Good Eats Galore
Russian Winter Fest at Hotel St. Germain
The Uptown hotel-restaurant is celebrating the traditional Russian Carnival meant as a festive break amid the harsh winters of the former Soviet nation. The evening begins at 7 with hors d’oeuvres and infused vodka shots in an outdoor ice bar and later moves to a seated dinner with regional dishes like blini with smoked salmon and caviar, blintzes and pirozki ($95 per person; call 214-871-2516 for reservations).
Green Grocer’s First Anniversary
The Lower Greenville market made a splash when it landed, with its focus on stocking sustainable, local, organic and GMO-free foods. Now it’s celebrating a year at its second location (the first is in Chicago) with samples of local food artisans such as Luscher’s Post Oak Red Hots, Hail Merry and Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters, as well as bites and sips from Green Grocer itself. If you’re going to fill your basket this Saturday, make it between 10 AM and 4 PM and raise a glass to the store.
Brew the Cure at Community Beer
JDRF, a nonprofit that helps fund type-1 diabetes research, is hosting this fundraiser at downtown brewery Community Beer Company. Your $50 ticket to the 2 PM event gets you beer, a souvenir glass, food and live music.
Sunday Supper at Nick & Sam’s
The Uptown steakhouse (pictured) is using the last Sunday of each month to offer a special themed family-style dinner at a terrific price. This month’s meal is Japanese, with selections such as sashimi, tempura and grilled meats on skewers. Seats are very limited, and rightfully so - each month’s meal is $65 and includes wine pairings. Call the restaurant at 214-871-7444 to save your seat at the table.
