Where to Drink In and Around FriscoBy Farah Fleurima | July 25, 2014 By Farah Fleurima | July 25, 2014
We raved about superb spots to grab a bite in Frisco, but for those times when you crave a liquid lunch or an after-dinner cocktail, these top-notch bars will fill your cup.
Rugby House Pub
This Plano bar on the edge of Frisco keeps more than 100 craft beers on hand and prides itself on its fish 'n' chips and housemade corned beef. Since installing a new cask pump in late June, Rugby House has started tapping conditioned ales twice a month on so-named Firkin Fridays.
Best Deal: $3 select Texas beers on Wednesdays.
The Pub in Frisco
This neighborhood destination maintains a festive pulse with plenty of live music and even live-band karaoke with backing group Emerald City. If sports are more your thing, there are plenty of TVs at the ready. The thoughtful beer list boasts craft brews, from pilsners to porters.
Best Deal: Get $3 burgers and $2 wells and domestics on Mondays.
The Londoner Pub
The Far North branch of the well-loved mini-chain of Euro pubs champions soccer and beer. British menu highlights include steak and ale pie, bangers and mash and fish 'n' chips. Drafts from all over the world populate the taps, and don’t miss summery beer combos (Harp and cider, cider and a float of Guinness).
Best Deal: Tuesday pint night, with $3 domestics, $4 imports and $5 20-oz. nitros from 4 PM until close.
Holy Grail Pub
This Plano hot spot has one of the best beer selections in the area (more than 170) and hosts a seemingly endless number of tap takeovers and keg and cask tappings. Not only will cocktail lovers find terrific variety on the mixed-drink menu, but whiskey fans can get giddy over the extensive list of spirits.
Best Deal: The release of limited-edition brews from Dogfish Head (only four times a year).
The Frisco Bar
The city’s self-proclaimed “finest neighborhood retreat” (above) hosts almost-daily events, like Saucy Saturday (cheap mimosas and food specials), Margarita Monday, Fish Fry-Day and poker tournament nights. Menu highlights include the Frisco Bar Long Island, Strawberry Limeade and eats like the Frisco Bar Burger. The $5.99 lunch specials make day drinking feel almost obligatory.
Best Deal: Sunday Funday — brunch all day with $5 bloody Marys and mimosas.
In addition to an extensive tequila library, the Shops at Legacy restaurant is known for craft cocktails on tap. Expect classics (Caipirinha, daiquiri, margarita) and signature drinks (Chicha Morada Sour, Grapefruit Paloma), along with a primarily Mexican beer list.
Best Deal: Happy hour, with $2 off all cocktails and drafts, weekdays 3-7 PM.
