4 Wacky Pizzas to Try Now in DenverBy Ruth Tobias | June 18, 2014 By Ruth Tobias | June 18, 2014
Will the legalization of pot truly give us a citywide case of the munchies? That remains to be seen, but Wazee Supper Club is already researching a cure. The longtime LoDo hangout has just invented the Mile-High Pizza (pictured above), topped with — get this — peanut butter, bacon and pickles.
Of course, it’s not alone in the anything-goes category. New Ballpark joint Ian’s is slinging mac-and-cheese pies. Our go-to pizza from Baker slice counter Pie Hole just so happens to be smothered in peanut sauce, mangos and brown-sugar-roasted jalapeños. And recently, in a moment of (completely sober) laziness, we got a Rio Negro delivered from Ballpark’s Buenos Aires Pizzeria, which throws sliced pears and fresh mint leaves into the mix of mozzarella and bacon. (Check it out below alongside a butternut squash-carrot empanada.)
